Win A Free Trip to India!

While we were traveling in the USA over Christmas, Delta Airlines lost our suitcase full of kids' clothes, Isaac's scriptures, most of Russell's Christmas presents, and, worst of all, 12 personalized books from Nana. Russell especially was very very sad without his costumes and his Power Ranger motorcycle.

We submitted a claim to Delta and received a generous compensation for the loss, which coincidentally is roughly equal to the cost of a ticket from the USA to Delhi. Amazingly enough, nearly four months later, the bag magically appeared and Rich picked it up from the airport recently (after having to do a fair amount of yelling and screaming for three hours!).

Since we didn't spend much of that compensation money and got our stuff back anyway, we want to share the blessing and use the money to bring one lucky person to visit us here in this amazing place.

So go ahead, write a short essay. Your topic, should you choose to accept this challenge, is:

"Why India needs a visit from yours truly"

The winner will get their essay published on our blog (whoopee!) AND receive a free trip to Delhi, including airfare, free room and board in Delhi, and travel agent services if you choose to travel outside of Delhi.

All entries must be submitted by May 30th. Just include your essay as a comment on this post, or if you prefer, email it to us. Happy writing!

so are people you dont technically know eligible for this contest? like say me? a cousin of a friend of yours?

Hi Brittney.

If people here can arrange a marriage to their daughter based on the recommendation of a friend of a friend, having a visitor who is a friend's cousin is good enough for us, by gum.

We'll make the rule that as long as we know somebody who can vouch for you, you're in!

When I first read this post I thought you were speaking dramatically. Are you serious?? I know my husband Dustinn would go ga-ga over the opportunity but he simply doesn't have any PTO days (unless we cut out Thanksgiving & Christmas.) He hopes we'll get an opportunity like yours someday.

Great idea!

This is an awesome idea. I can't wait to read the essays . . . and I think I'll write one myself! Such a fun idea, and you'll get to introduce someone to India as well! Brilliant.

We are serious as a heart attack about this one. We have one entry so far--the amazing and famous (at least in his mind) Mark Gurney. It's a pretty good one. He's putting pressure on us to close the contest early because he's so confident his essay is the best. We invite you to prove him wrong! Get those essays in soon before we buckle to the pressure . . .

Mindy this is too much pressure. I want to write an essay but have not done so in such a long time I would have no idea where to begin. If I get any inspiration any time soon I'll submit my entry. I am making no promises that it will happen but I would love to see you, your family and India.

What is the word limit? There are so many reasons India as well as the Cutlers would enjoy my presence.

I can bring my own electric fly swatter. But, do you have American bottled water for me and at least 500 thread count sheets? I would also need 24 hour air conditioning. (My pores would be as big as swimming pools without it.) Oh, and I've watched Apu on the Simpsons and know so much about the customs of India.

I have to confess I'm packing right now even before I write my essay! Vote for me! Don't make me turn to the superdelegates!

if i were single and didn't have kids, i would so be wanting to give this a try. since, however, that is so not the case, i will have to forfeit. lucky for the rest of you that you don’t have me to compete with:)jk

Corrie, so far all the people who have entered an essay or plan to are married and only one doesn't have kids. When there's a will there's a way . . . but a season for everything too. We'll just have to come visit you!

Mindy, maybe your right, i guess these days i really don't think i have much of a will for doing things like going off to India. besides it would probably be against my hubbie's will since he couldn't come with (legally:) and he wouldn't want me to go alone, nor do i think i would want to go alone. thanks for the invite but we'll have to pass:) you are always welcome to our home, let us know next time you are in town!
